AM965 Manual Switch

Modular III Utility

The Moog Modular  is a fantastic sounding synth but it could benefit from having some performance oriented modules that make live playing more interesting. AMSynths have created three 4HP modules that do exactly that; The AM964 Trigger Controller, the AM965 Manual Switch and the AM967 Fader Recorder. Each module is 4HP wide and has a coloured momentary button at the base of the panel to activate the module. The designs have also been ported across to the 2500 modules; as the AM1064 and AM1067.

AM965 Module

AMSynths AM965 This module is a pair of analog switches that can be gated or manually activated on and off. Each channel is bi-directional and can be used either to select between two inputs or two outputs. The high quality analog switches can be used to switch analog or CV signals up to 20V p-t-p.

The blue button manually activates the switches on and off, with the green and red LED’s indicating whether the switch is on or off. There is a Eurorack standard +5V gate signal input and jack sockets for the switch ins and outs. A red LED indicates when the gate signal is on.

There are numerous use cases:

  • Routing sounds through different filters or VCA’s
  • Routing signals to effects
  • Merging a sub oscillator into a filter
  • Manual pitch, timbre and level accents using the push button
  • Sequencer based accents using the gate input.

The AM965 module has been carefully designed to be compatible with the lower signal levels of a Moog Modular and its replicas.

Outcomes and Availability The module was designed in the Winter of 2024/25 and went into production in February 2025, with a public launch at SynthEast 2025.
